Sci-Fi or Poo-Pie?
If you HAVE NOT seen this film, than DO NOT read on, otherwise please continue :)
Having high hopes for a Ridley Scott film and having directed the infamous Alien and Hannibal, it was unfortunately disappointing. Perhaps it was the modern influence of futuristic thinking with overly high-tech gear that seemed a hell of a lot more advanced than when the first Alien was made (Prometheus being the prequel of Alien), that made the film seem as if the piece did not quite fit the puzzle. Throughout the film, the scenes appeared mis-matched and I wasn't quite sure how or why so & so happened. At first I thought it was me being stupid and thinking I didn't understand it, but my friend experienced a similar encounter. For example; I have no idea why the robot poisoned one of the scientists. I wasn't sure whether the robot wanted to do it for experimental purposes or because he felt some resentment towards the scientist. Both are driven by human emotions, and he is a ROBOT, a freaking ROBOT.... so I didn't get it. I also found it quite interesting how they collaborated the idea of God-like creators and a bunch of scientists and experts to find out who or what created the human race and why. I thought the concept of science and religion were suppose to be on opposite ends?? It was only really towards the end that I grasped an idea of how THE Alien came to existence. It was all because of that bastard robot, sorry Prometheus, but you are not worth a 3.5/5 star for me.
